Spanish NHS Serves Kindergarten Classes

This year, as one of their service projects, the Spanish National Honor Society decided to serve their kindergarten peers. After purchasing a bilingual book for the kindergarten classrooms to keep on hand, the Spanish NHS and fellow classmates from OCC Spanish then traveled to the elementary school where they read the book aloud. Kindergarten students listened eagerly for the Spanish words. The storyline was about being a good friend even though we are all different. Each kindergartner was then presented with a SUPER LECTOR “Super Reader” certificate and a little snack to enjoy. This was an incredible opportunity to promote literacy, diversity, inclusion, and love for learning a new language, as well as perform community service to some of our youngest students. The seniors were enthusiastic readers, and the kindergarteners were wonderful listeners. What a dynamic service project!
