Reading Recovery and Early Literacy


1.  Look at the pictures and think about the story.
2.  Say the first sound of the word and reread the sentence.
3.  Does it make sense?
4.  Does it sound right?
5.  Does it look right?

Use one or two of the prompts, whichever you feel will be most helpful for your child.  If your child is still stuck tell him/her the word and go on.  Remember, we want your child to enjoy the story that is being read.

Enjoy the small stories your child reads to you and read stories your child is not capable of reading to him/her.
